A new House committee will handle every proposed legislation concerning guns and firearm safety during the legislative session in Texas.

There are 13 legislators from different regions of Texas on the House Select Committee on Community Safety. The Robb Elementary Shooting Investigation Committee, established in June at Gov. Greg Abbott’s request, formerly included two members.

According to a news release, some members represent localities recently affected by mass shootings. The select committee included all House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee members.
