Officials Say La Porte Plane Crash Pilot Hospitalized

After a plane went down at the La Porte Municipal Airport early on Monday morning, the pilot was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Just before 9 o’clock in the morning, officials said the jet was observed to have its nose pointing down.

The flight track on Flightradar24 shows that the aircraft took off at 8:45 in the morning and then appeared to quickly turn around and return to the airport a minute later.

Emergency personnel were able to extricate the pilot from the plane, and he was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center. Assistant Fire Chief David Gifford has stated that prior to the disaster, the airplane had some kind of mechanical failure that caused it to crash. According to the documents, the aircraft in question is a Maule MXT-7-180, and it was reportedly registered to a pipeline firm with headquarters in Beeville, Texas.

The proximity of La Porte Emergency Medical Services’ headquarters to the airport was cited as the primary factor in the agency’s prompt response to the disaster.
