Tornado Watches Are Out For Parts Of North Texas

A tornado watch is in effect for the counties south of I-20 until 10 p.m. Wednesday. These are the counties of Johnson, Ellis, and Hood. There is a tornado watch for Bosque County until 7 p.m.

Strong to severe storms are expected in North Texas Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to a Weather Alert.

North Texas Under Tornado Watch

The weather team at CBS News Texas is keeping a close eye on a frontal system that will bring a few storms to parts of our area tonight. In fact, most of North Texas is at an “Enhanced Risk” (Level 3) for bad weather on Wednesday.

Tornado Watches Are Out For Parts Of North Texas

Through the early to middle of the afternoon, scattered showers and storms will keep moving through our area. This is all happening ahead of a warm front that will move up from the south. Lightning could strike often and there could be a lot of rain. We might also see a little hail. But the most severe weather is most likely to happen between 1 and 10 p.m. when a warm front brings more unstable air to our area and a cold front follows. You might see the  Central Texas County Tornado Warnings.

As the cold front moves in, any storms that form will probably have heavy rain, damaging winds, big hail, and a few tornadoes. If a warning is given for your area.
