On May 5-7, 2023, the La Izquierda Surf and Music Festival will return to Beach Central. This year, it looks like it will be bigger and better than ever. This year’s event is a great way to enjoy both longboard surfing and live music.
You can dance to epic hip-hop, reggae, folk, indie, psych rock, and zydeco, among other things. There will be art installations, beach games, vendors, and food trucks. This will be a fun event for the whole family, rain or shine.

On May 7, rap and R&B star Bun B from Houston will close the show. Bun B is going to Galveston right after his huge rodeo show in Houston, and he’s bringing his award-winning Trill Burgers with him. La Izquierda Fest will thank the people who live in the area by throwing a special party on Friday before the event starts. Local music group Third Eyeland will take over the pre-party for a free night of pre-festival fun and to show off local artists and sellers. It’s a great chance for people in the area to get together and enjoy what the fair has to offer before the main event starts.
The event has both general admission and VIP passes for sale, so you can go for one day or the whole weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the doors will open at 10:00 am, making it easy for everyone to join in the fun. On Friday and Saturday, the event will end at 10 p.m., and on Sunday, it will end at 6 p.m. You might be seen also 2023 San Jacinto Celebration.
Some of the biggest names in music will be on the list, which is not to be missed. Watch Young Mammals, India Tigers Texas, Neon Lemon, and Annabelle Chairlegs perform on Friday night. Los Skarnales, Swimwear Department, GALVEZTON, Blaze X Black, Blossom Aloe, Opie Hendrix, Justin Stewart, Kevin Anderson, and Shame on Me are all playing on Saturday. Rich O’Toole, Marc Borde, Inda Skies, DEM Roots, Son Bayou, CJ Chenier, the Red Hot Zydeco Band, and BUN B are all playing on Sunday.
“La Izquierda is getting so much support and love from the people of Galveston that it has turned into a three-day festival featuring some of the best musicians and surfers our area has to offer,” said Robert Kuhn, who is in charge of the festival. “Men and women from all along the coast are drawn to the prizes at the longboard open. At its heart, La Izquierda is a longboard surfing event that supports style and stoke in the Texas surf community.
