Officers Fatally Sh00t Kerr County Man During Routine Wellness Check

A 75-year-old man was sh0t and k!lled by police during a welfare check in Kerr County, according to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office.

Kerr County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident on Facebook, saying it happened on Monday near Mountain Home, an unincorporated village located about 15 miles north of Kerrville.

The sheriff’s office reports that they were called at 161 Dry Creek Trail West to check on the welfare of a citizen and that they were joined by officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a male subject threatened to do harm to officers if they did not leave his property,” the sheriff’s office post said.

According to the Facebook post, the individual (whose identity was withheld) shot multiple times at police. The officers reportedly fired back, k!lling the suspect. The post claims that nobody else was hurt.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said in the post:

“We are saddened by the outcome of this situation, for the deceased person and the families affected, “This is a tragic case, and we appreciate the swift action and cooperation from the Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS Texas Rangers Division, and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.”
