Texas Dairy Explosion K!lls At Least 18000 Cattle, Injures 1 Critically

On Monday, there was an explosion at a dairy farm in the Panhandle of Texas, which resulted in the de@ths of around 18,000 cows and badly injured one person.

When the explosion took place at the Southfork Dairy Farm in Dimmitt, the cows were in a holding area on the farm before they were taken inside to be milked, according to the Castro County Sheriff’s Office, which confirmed this information to Fox News Digital. Officials told a local outlet that only a few of the cows held in the holding facility survived.

“Your count probably is close to that. There’s some that survived, there’s some that are probably injured to the point where they’ll have to be destroyed,” Castro County Sherif Sal Rivera told KFDA.

It Calls Regarding Explosion And Flames

The fire and police departments reported receiving eight calls of an explosion and flames just before 7:30 p.m. on Monday. According to the callers, several staff were stuck inside the milking building. Officials from the law enforcement agency arrived at the dairy farm and determined that the sole person confined inside the dairy facility was a woman.

The distance from Dimmitt to Lubbock is approximately 80 miles. According to the officials, all of the other employees at the dairy were accounted for and were safe. The Office of the Texas State incident Marshal is conducting an investigation to determine what caused the incident.

“The speculation was probably what they call a honey badger, which is a vacuum that sucks the manure and water out and possibly that it got overheated and probably the methane and things like that ignited and spread out and exploded and the fire,” Rivera told local outlet KSAT.
