On Monday, March 21, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for the majority of Central Texas counties. The tornado watch was issued by the National Weather Service until one in the morning.
Gillespie County, Hays County, Bastrop County, Caldwell County, Lee County, Blanco County, Travis County, Llano County, Burnet County, Williamson County, Fayette County, Bell County, Milam County, and Lampasas County were among the Central Texas counties that were placed under a tornado watch.
The Central Texas Region
The moderate risk for severe weather for the Central Texas region on Monday, March 21 has been upgraded for much of the region. The likelihood for tornadoes and hail specifically contributed to the increase in danger. This afternoon and tonight, there is a chance of strong tornadoes with golf ball- to baseball-sized hail.
FOX 7 Storm danger modes, according to Austin meteorologist Carlo Falco, will start off as hail, progress to huge or very large hail, and then turn into a tornado threat. By 4 to 7 p.m., storms with a tornado and hail hazard should approach I-35 as they move east along a dry line in the Texas Hill Country near Highway 281.
