On Thursday, April 26, the top 10 graduates from Friendswood High School were honored at the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce’s yearly luncheon. People from the Friendswood Independent School District (FISD), the Chamber of Commerce, and the community came to the event, which was held at [place].
The top 10 grads were honored for their great grades, leadership skills, and work in the community. The luncheon gave the Chamber of Commerce a chance to show how well FISD and the business community work together and to celebrate the achievements of these outstanding kids.
10 Friendswood High School Graduates
Thad Roher, the head of Friendswood ISD, said, “We are very proud of our Top 10 graduates and all they have done.” Their success in school shows how well they were taught at Friendswood High School and how hard our excellent teachers work. We are thankful to the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce for noticing how hard these kids work and how much they care.
Ganesh Venu is the valedictorian for the Class of 2023. This fall, he will go to Stanford University to study Bioengineering as his major. Venu was active in Varsity Tennis, Debate, the Science Fair, and NHS while he was at FHS.
According to Post Newspaper, The FHS Salutatorian is Asiya Siddiqi. She will study Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin. Siddiqi is President of the NHS, President of the Class of 2023, Vice President of the Student Council, Vice President of the National Spanish Honors Society, Vice President of the National English Honors Society, Vice President of the Spanish Club, Vice President of the Music Appreciation Club, Girl Scout Troop 08651, Volunteer Coordinator for the Houston Hunger Truck, Principal’s Round Table, ISM Science Researcher, and Spanish Class Volunteer Teacher at Bales.
Third on the list is Maryam Faisal. She wants to go to Rice University and study Neuroscience as her major. Faisal is in the National Honor Society, the Math and Science Club, the Recycling Club, the Debate Team, and UIL Spelling. Daniel Chen is in fourth place. He wants to go to the University of Texas at Austin and study Computer Science as his major. Chen is in the NHS, the Academic Decathlon, and the Mighty Mustang Marching Band.
Govind Rangappa came in fifth place in his class. Rangappa will study Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is on the Varsity Tennis Team, in the Asian Culture Club, the Math and Probability Club, and the Indian Classical Music Club. He also helps Be Someone Sports as an assistant teacher.
Sixth on the list is Brendan Larson. He wants to go to Texas A&M and major in Computer Science in the Engineering Honors College. Larson is in the marching band, the concert band, the Aerospace Appreciation Club, the National Honor Society, the Recycling Club, and the First Baptist Friendswood Church. Ava Michael is ranked seventh. She will go to the University of Mississippi to study business. She is in the FHS Cheer Team, the PALS, the NHS, and the NSHS. Nicole McGill comes in at number 8. She wants to study Neuroscience and Behavioral Science at Emory University. McGill is the drum major for the Mighty Mustang Band. He is also a member of NHS, NEHS, the Math and Science Club, HOSA, the FHS Musical Pit Band, and he works with Paws Fur a Cause.
Aden Pugsley is ranked ninth. She wants to go to Rice University and study Astrophysics as her major. Pugsley is a section leader in the Mighty Mustang Band, a part of NHS, NSHS, and the FHS Musical Pit Band, and a volunteer with Paws Fur a Cause and 3 Little Pitties.
Sophie Kester is in the FHS class of 2023 and is placed tenth. She wants to go to the University of Texas at Austin to study Physics. Kester helps out with kids at UTMB as a volunteer. He is also on the Debate Team, on Student Council, in NHS and NEHS, and is the President of the Music Appreciation Club. Zoe Wyrick, a senior, was also given a $1,000 grant from the Chamber. The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce has a long history of helping education and bringing together businesses and FISD to work together. The yearly luncheon is just one way that the Chamber shows how much it cares about recognizing and helping the best students in the area.
