The Africanized Bee, also known as killer bees, was responsible for the deaths of two dogs that residents of McAllen, Texas, last week owned. The NBC station KVEO in Brownsville, Texas, the dogs were attacked by bees at a residence in McAllen, and as a result, they passed away there.
On Thursday morning, the city received a call about a bee attack on N. 7th Court. Code enforcement officers responded to the ring after obtaining a warrant to enter the vacant home where the hive was located to investigate the situation.
The Africanized Honey Bees
Africanized honey bees are frequently misclassified as aggressive even though regular honey bees, AfricanizeTheyme aggressive when they feel threatened. Devon Johnson, who works for R9 Hive & Honey, told the news station that the bees were Africanized honey bees.
She also mentioned that the bees have a memory span of three days, which means that if they become agitated by something, such as a lawn mower, they may become hostile toward something else.
A Johnson, who spoke to KVEO about the incident, said the attack was peculiar because bees of this particular species do not typically go out of their way to attack. The stung dogs were on a fenced patio on the opposite side of a when it occurred, the when it happened.

The homeowner refused to let the bee specialist and the staff from code enforcement enter the home, so a warrant had to be obtained. Once inside, they discovered a busy hive that appeared to be covered with recently produced foam.
The Africanized honey bee, also known as the killer bee, is a hybrid of the European and African honey bees. This hybrid was created by crossing the two species. The so-called killer bee was a product of experiments conducted in Brazil over three decades ago; the bees moved to the United States.

Even though the weather plays a role, the typical bee season runs from the middle of March through October. They are always looking for potential dangers to their hive and can be startled by something as innocuous as the shade of a person’s shirt or the aroma of a man’s aftershave.
People who disturb a beehive are also advised by officials responsible for public health to cover their heads, flee the area, seek shelter, and not flail their arms.
